Thank you for trying ZenMark, a Markdown editor for Mac, iPhone and iPad. You type into rendered text (headings look like headings, **bold** looks bold) while the file on disk stays ordinary Markdown. The promise it is built on: **ZenMark never changes a byte you did not edit.** Open a file, change one word, save, and everything else in the file is exactly as it was. Please try it on your own notes, ideally a copy of a folder you already use (an Obsidian vault works). **Worth trying** - Open a .md file from Finder or Files, edit it, and look at the file in another app afterwards. - File ▸ Open Folder… (Mac) or the folder button (iPhone, iPad): browse a folder of notes, follow [[wikilinks]] and links between notes, see images in a note. - The formatting bar and the Format menu, lists (Return continues one, Tab indents), tables, code blocks. - Find and replace, the outline, word count, focus mode, typewriter scrolling, themes (View menu on the Mac, the Writing menu on iPhone and iPad). - Share as Markdown, PDF or HTML, and Print. - French and German: set ZenMark's language in Settings (iPhone, iPad) or System Settings ▸ General ▸ Language & Region (Mac). The translations are first drafts; corrections are very welcome. **Most useful to hear about** - Anything that changed in a file that you did not change. This matters more than anything else here. - Typing that feels slow, a caret that jumps, or text that disappears. - Anything you expected a Markdown editor to do that ZenMark does not. **Known issues** - iPhone and iPad: on a fresh launch, the first tap on Create Document can fail with "Unable to Import Document". Tapping it again works. - Mac: the app once crashed at launch while reopening windows from a previous session. If that happens to you, please tell me before opening it again, because opening it again clears what caused it. - Edits are saved two seconds after you stop typing; if the app is killed in that moment, those two seconds of typing can be lost. To send feedback, take a screenshot in the app and share it to TestFlight, or reply to the invitation email. Crashes are reported automatically.
