Scratchd

Scratchd is a notes app for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Everything it keeps is a file in a folder you choose: Markdown, plain text, JSON, YAML, .proto, textproto, sticky boards, canvases and drawings. There is no account and nothing is tracked. Nothing to sign up for. On first launch Scratchd asks where to keep your library and offers a folder in your iCloud Drive. Accept it and you are ready. What is worth trying: - Write something without deciding where it goes. Today's scratchpad is already created and already dated. - Leave things in the Inbox. File them later, or never. - Paste a JSON payload and read it as a tree. Open a .proto and jump from a field type to its definition. - Record a voice note. It is transcribed on your device, and if a device cannot do that locally Scratchd says so rather than uploading the audio. - Tasks in plain English, the journal, and saved links. - Open the folder in the Files app or Finder and confirm your notes are ordinary files. Known limits: - Voice notes and the journal's generated reflection need a device that supports Apple Intelligence. - CarPlay needs iOS 26.4. Feedback is welcome, particularly anything that lost work, anything that felt slow, and anywhere the app pushed you to organise something you did not want to organise. Send it from the TestFlight app or to hello@innovatory.xyz.
