GeneFox is a native macOS and iOS genomics browser for exploring public gene expression and survival data — TCGA, GEO, GTEx, UCSC Xena, and the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia — without leaving your device. Every analysis runs locally; the only network traffic is fetching the public datasets you ask for. Built for researchers, students, and clinicians who need fast, reproducible look-ups of cancer-genomics data on a laptop, iPad, or iPhone. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Browse 100+ cohorts from the NCI Genomic Data Commons — TCGA, TARGET, CPTAC, CGCI, CMI, APOLLO, and the long tail of GDC projects — with case counts, primary sites, and disease types. • Visualize gene expression distributions across any cohort, stratified by gender, vital status, stage, race, ethnicity, age group, primary diagnosis, disease type, molecular subtype, sample type, or mutation status of any second gene. • Generate Kaplan–Meier survival curves stratified by clinical variables or by gene expression, with log-rank p-values and median survival readouts. Now also stratifiable by mutation status. • Compare tumor and adjacent-normal expression against matched GTEx normal tissue via the UCSC Xena TOIL hub, with effect size and Mann–Whitney U statistics. • Render gene-panel heatmaps with hierarchical clustering on both axes, multi-track annotation strips (sample type, subtype, stage, mutation status — pick as many as you want), Z-normalization, and a percentile-clipped diverging color scale that doesn't wash out under outliers. • Run pre-ranked GSEA and Mann–Whitney differential expression against bundled Hallmark, KEGG, immune, oncogenic, and cancer-subtype gene-set signatures. • Search NCBI GEO with smart cancer-term expansion — type SCLC, ESCC, or GBM and GeneFox rewrites the Entrez query with canonical names and synonyms, excluding lookalike terms. • Test a gene's prognostic value across every TCGA cohort simultaneously with the Pan-Cancer Survival forest plot. • Capture any chart into a session-scoped Report Builder and export a multi-figure PDF with an auto-generated methods section listing every test statistic and data source used. PRIVACY GeneFox does not collect, track, or transmit any personal data. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no third-party tracking. Bookmarks and pinned cohorts are stored in your private iCloud database so they ride along between your devices; they are visible only to you. ON-DEVICE INTELLIGENCE On supported devices, an Apple Intelligence chat surface lets you query datasets in natural language — "show TP53 by stage", "correlate BRCA1 and BRCA2", "summarize this cohort". The model runs entirely on-device. DISCLAIMER GeneFox is a research and exploration tool intended for scientific and educational use only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. Data are aggregated from public repositories (NCI GDC, NCBI GEO, GTEx, UCSC Xena, CCLE, ARCHS4) and have not been independently validated for clinical decision-making.
